In Business 35 years

CFR Welding was opened in 1988 by Chris Foley. During the first ten years motor vehicle chassis repair was a staple, including on many Porsche 914s. In 1998 we began manufacturing Tangerine Superheader 914-4 and 912E exhaust systems. In 2006 the name was changed to CFR-Tangerine Racing Products, and the business moved to a much larger facility in Manchester, CT. Today we have numerous signature products including our custom fender flares and the Tangerine EVO 914 performance exhaust system.

Expert Knowledge Base

I’ve been driving and working on Porsche 914s for nearly 40 years, beginning with major rust repairs on my first 914 in 1985. I have extensive experience auto-crossing and on-track driving. In 1995 I began road racing my Tangerine 914 in the SCCA, culminating in 3 trips to the National Championship Runoffs in 2003-2005. Through that experience I have the knowledge to help you get the most out of your 914 whether it's built for the street or for the track.

Why we do it

Porsche 914s are special, and so much fun to drive. For some of us it's been a love affair right from the start. The rest of the world has only recently acknowledged what 914ers knew all along. In the meantime at Tangerine Racing we've quietly been creating thoughtful and innovative products to help repair and improve them.

Installed your rear mounted remote oil cooler setup a year or so ago. It was put to the test yesterday as the temps were in the mid 90's and we had a 100 mi road trip ahead of us with some turnpike driving and some 2 lane twisties thrown in for good measure. The oil temps were held in check and I was confident in your systems capabilities.Temp guage never got above the ¾ mark. Used to run there and higher with the stock set up.
